The Job
Role: Senior Project Lead (Subsidised Projects)
Location: Northern Ireland or UK remote working with occasional travel as required.
Terms: Permanent, full time.
The Role / Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of BDUK Projects, this critical role within the PMO will take the lead in one or more of public funded Projects, in collaboration with BDUK and regional government organisations. They will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and management of public sector project(s).
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? (not limited to)
- Acts as the public face of the contract(s) and is first point of contact for all stakeholders, internal and external
- Ability to manage high levels of ambiguity when dealing with emerging business strategy.
- Responsible for Contract compliance/governance, reporting and revenue collection
- Manages the Contract Change Control process
- Excels at writing and presenting both drill down and strategic reporting
- Ensures sufficient quality assurance is in place
- Proven ability to build and maintain long term stakeholder relationships and support up to and including at Board level
- Provides on the ground leadership to the wider team, and develops an enthusiastic ethos
- Extensive diverse team leadership and matrix management e.g. PMO, Implementation managers, change managers, etc.
- Take responsibility for the implementation and management of complex external stakeholder management plans
- Seeks guidance from Head of Projects
WHAT WILL YOU BRING?
- 5+ years’ experience in project/programme management
- 3rd level education in a relevant field preferred
- Experience in telecoms or infrastructure related projects
- Experience of working public funded programmes
- Well-developed planning and organisational skills including scope and schedule management
- Experience in managing key contract obligations and potential business / legal risks and devise and implement strategies for mitigating risks
- Proven track record of developing and delivering robust reporting and evidence tracking for programme deliverables and costs
- Experience of working as part of a PMO in a client facing programme
- Outstanding communication and inter-personal skills
- Proficiency with MS Office, MS Excel, MS SharePoint, MS Teams
Desirable:
- Experience working with BDUK and associated Government bodies
- Knowledge of Telcoms market and current trends/challenges
- Good understanding of Financial and Legal concepts and application
- Experience of Contract and relationship Management
