Strabane is the latest town to acknowledge their position in our recent Remote Working Index (RWI). The North West town was named as the second-best place to live as a remote worker in Northern Ireland.

Launched earlier this month, our remote working index was developed to celebrate the impact Project Stratum has had in transforming rural connectivity and enabling greater flexibility for people to live and work wherever they choose. Northern Ireland now boasts an average broadband connectivity rate of 96%.

Strabane secured the number two spot among 45 towns assessed, with rankings based on five key metrics; housing affordability, connectivity, remote working spaces, green spaces and transport links.

To celebrate, our Founder and CEO Dominic Kearns met with the Mayor of Derry City and Strabane, Ruairí McHugh; and Vice Chair of Strabane BID, Michael Kelly at The Tinnies, Lifford Roundabout, Strabane.

Dominic Kearns, Founder and CEO at Fibrussaid:

It was great to catch up with Derry City and Strabane Mayor and members of the Strabane Business Improvement District (BID) Team at the iconic Tinnies in Strabane to recognise the town as one of the best places to work remotely in NI, and learn about the regeneration plans Strabane BID have for the town.

Strabane now boasts an impressive 94% ultrafast broadband availability for local residents and businesses, providing the broadband infrastructure for Strabane and its rural periphery to compete with the larger urban areas and beyond.

Ultrafast and reliable broadband connectivity is providing people with the freedom to live and work where they choose, without sacrificing career opportunities.

Strabane may be 88 miles from Belfast but is proving to be a destination of choice for remote workers.

Remote working also helps to boost local economies and support thriving rural communities, which is something we continue to be a real champion of as we roll out full fibre broadband across Northern Ireland and witness first-hand the difference connectivity is having on local families and businesses.
