Fibrus People Spotlight: Ciara Kelly

In this month’s People Spotlight, we get to know Ciara Kelly, Head of Digital Marketing and Communications at Fibrus.

  • Where are you from?  

Co. Down – so good scenery, good people, and a lifelong ability to talk about the weather. 

  • What do you like to do in your free time?/When are you at your happiest? 

I’m happiest spending time with family and friends. That could be watching football, heading to London to visit family, or just a good day out somewhere. Life moves quickly, so making memories with the people closest to you is something I really value. 

  • What are you passionate about? 

Family time is a big one for me. I’m also passionate about building things – whether that’s businesses, websites, digital experiences, or teams. Seeing something grow from an idea into something real is always exciting. 

  • What’s something you saw recently that made you smile/laugh?  

Probably something my two sons said or did – kids have a way of keeping you grounded and entertained at the same time. 

  • How do you like to wind down from your day? 

Usually with a good series or movie. Once the laptop closes, the remote control takes over. 

  • What does your typical day at Fibrus look like? 

One of the best parts of my role is that there really isn’t a typical day. It usually starts with catching up with the team, reviewing performance across our digital channels, and prioritising the projects that will have the biggest impact. At the moment we’re spending a lot of time revamping our website and customer portal, testing and improving the customer journey so it’s as smooth and simple as possible. 

  • What’s your go-to productivity trick? 

Our visual work operating system is a big one for us. It allows the team to plan, track and manage projects in real time, which keeps everything transparent and moving forward. When you’re juggling multiple projects across digital channels, having that visibility makes a huge difference. 

  • What led you to this career? 

I studied Graphic and Multimedia Design at university, then ran my own retail business for 16 years. When I launched an online store, I quickly realised that PPC and digital advertising were the real engines behind growth. That’s when my interest turned into a real passion for digital marketing and e-commerce. 

  • What motivates you at work? 

The team around me. Seeing people grow in confidence, bring fresh ideas to the table and challenge how we do things is what really drives me. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together at Fibrus. The energy and commitment across the team makes me excited about what we can achieve next. 

  • When did you join Fibrus? 

I joined Fibrus in 2022, at a time when customers couldn’t even place orders online and the digital infrastructure was still evolving. Sometimes I have to remind myself to step back and look at how far we’ve come. Digital is now a major focus for the business, and it’s exciting to think that we’re really only getting started. 

  • What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from? 

“Accept the things I cannot change, have the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” That quote came from my mum – she’s always been the best person for good advice. 

  • What book, movie, or music changed your outlook on life? 

I wouldn’t say one specific one changed everything, but I’m always drawn to stories about people building something from nothing – whether it’s business, sport or technology. 

  • What’s the top destination on your must-visit list? 

Florida is always high on the list. It’s the ultimate family holiday – although my two sons have definitely peer-pressured me onto a few rollercoasters I would have happily watched from the ground.
