The Role / Responsibilities

Key responsibilities for the Construction Supervisor:

  • Site management of fibre to the home works.
  • Ensure all work sites are to Chapter 8 requirements.
  • Supervision of contractor activity to ensure works are completed to b4b/Fibrus specifications and NIRAUC requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Openreach Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) requirements.
  • Minimisation of customer disruption during build activity.
  • Recording daily works completed and completing reports as required.
  • Completing final snag and joint measure for invoicing.
  • Checking plans and seeking for re-plans to reduce costs.
  • Working closely with our Build partners to form a working partnership on site.

  • Thorough knowledge of Chapter 8 Traffic Signs Manual.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to learn technical knowledge relating to products and services

  • Willing to travel anywhere in Northern Ireland as the build progresses.

As a Fibre Planner you will be working on new and existing design projects as Fibrus rolls out its FTTH network across N. Ireland. Working with the Planning Manager you will have responsibility for ensuring our design partners produce fibre designs that are compliant with our agreed network architecture guidelines and contain the necessary detailed information to ensure build and cost accuracy. Additionally, you will have the responsibility to ensure each area design yields the maximum number of premises passed possible within the cost guidelines for the project.

We need a self-motivated individual with a keen eye for detail, who can work both on their own and as part of a team, liaising with both engineers and senior staff.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ownership of FTTH network design from survey to design to build and into maintenance
  • Overseeing outputs from our design partners to ensure they meet architectural guidelines and contain the necessary information to ensure build and cost accuracy.
  • Working alongside design partner optimising designs to ensure maximum yield of premises passed by our fibre network within the cost per home budget
  • To drive consistency, quality, suitability and cost-effectiveness with every design and build.
  • Production of reactive desktop designs and feasibilities to leverage new opportunities
  • If necessary, produce construction & cabling work packages for internal and/or external teams
  • Ensure that all works comply with guidelines and relevant codes of practice.
  • Work with the Project Manager to deliver project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders, internal, external, local authorities to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the infrastructure and react to any changes necessary
  • Design and maintain accurate systems to support the planning process



The Person

  • The perfect person will come from a telecoms background coupled with extensive planning experience – previous experience working for a major UK telecom company would be an advantage.

  • Solid understanding of PON type architectures
  • Proven ability to design and create fit for purpose and cost-effective fibre optic networks to include topology layout, fibre splice plans, cable duct and routing
  • Proven ability to complete a ‘concept’ (aspirational) design for walking the route/ joint survey with contractors
  • Proven ability to complete a ‘technical’ (factual) design and pack for issuing for build
  • Ability to interpret and translate a set of architectural guidelines into a set of design rules for our design partner
  • Proven ability to carry out joint validation surveys with contractors to establish the most effective trench/fibre routes and chambers locations (based on cost, practicality and H&S etc)
  • Detailed understanding of UK/NI local and national authority regulations in respect to civil engineering works
  • Detailed understanding and working experience of Wayleaves
  • Good knowledge of Streetwork regulations
  • Demonstrable experience in use of a range of GIS software e.g. QGIS
  • Full driving licence highly preferable but not essential.

The H&S Officer will deliver effective and value-added strategies that meet both the operational needs of the business, and the Group’s governance and assurance requirements.


The H&S officer will deliver an integrated service in all aspects of HS management, including supporting the development and delivery of strategic plans and objectives that support both operational requirements and the Group’s governance and assurance framework for health, safety, environmental and quality management.

 

 Responsibilities

  • Provide input into the development and delivery of effective and proactive strategies for managing HS risks, and for improving HS performance.
  • To support the development and delivery of internal/external HS training to operational teams (and other parties, where required) in line with agreed BU Fibrus HS competency programmes.

  • Qualification in a relevant subject related to construction health and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate) or equivalent qualifications/experience.

The Role

You will be responsible for the following areas and activities:


  • Contract drafting and review

  • Developing the business’s policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance/ regulatory affairs. Anticipate changing laws and codes that Fibrus may not be aware of and take action to ensure that the Business does not violate these laws.

The perfect person will come from a legal background and have provided advice, guidance, and representation to the stakeholders and Business. Any experience in the telecoms industry would be advantageous but not a necessity.

The Role


You will be responsible for the following areas and activities:

  • Coordinating with the PIA Project Manager for general administration based tasks
  • Preparing excel data bases for PIA
  • General admin duties i.e. printing, scanning, collation of documents & and reports
  • Completing all tasks assigned while maintaining confidentially at all times
  • Reading cable maps and adding to Openreach Map (training will be provided).


The person


  • The perfect person will come from an administrative background. Excellent excel skills and works well under minimal supervision within a team.
  • Planning experience would be an added advantage.


Experience


  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a senior admin related role
  • Can demonstrate ability to work in a professional environment with high expectations
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Telecoms and/or GIS experience desirable.
