Setting up a router and changing your password

We provide a Nokia G-2425-B router. This connects via a cable to a powered wall-mounted unit inside your home. On the day of your installation an engineer will set up your router and test for a connection before leaving your home.

What are the connections at the back of the router?

  • VoIP connection (Tel1)
  • Ethernet ports 
  • LAN 1,2,3,4
  • Power button to turn the router on/off
  • WLAN: this will power the wireless radios on/off
  • Reset button: insert a pin and hold in for 15-20 seconds to reset your router to factory settings. 

How to log into your Nokia gateway

To log in to the Nokia gateway you will need to be connected to the Fibrus Nokia router either by wireless or via ethernet cable. On the device connected to the router, open a web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Safari) and in the address bar type 192.168.1.254 as shown below.

Once the webpage loads, enter your username and password to log in. Please be aware that both the username and password fields are case-sensitive. Your login details can be found on the back of your router. These will be listed under Admin IP 192.168.1.254.

Username: userAdmin
Password: unique to each router

Once successfully logged into the gateway you will be presented with the below screen.


Where can I find my SSID and WIFI password?

These are listed on the back of the router.


How to change your wireless SSID (Wireless network name)

To change your wireless SSID (network name) you will need to log into the Nokia gateway. Both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wireless network names can be changed. This will allow you to connect to a particular network.

Step 1 – Login to the Nokia gateway (See above for details)

Step 2 – Select Network from the menu on the left of the screen.

Step 3Within the new screen, you will now have the option to select, please select the radio you wish to modify.

  • Wireless (2.4Ghz)
  • Wireless (5Ghz)

Step 4Under the heading SSID Configuration, the network name can be changed in the SSID name field.


How to change your WIFI security settings

To change your wireless security, you will need to log into the Nokia gateway. Some manufacturers have added a minimum level of security and will display an informational message “Weak Security” if it detects an older method of security being used. The security can be changed on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radios.

Step 1 – Login to the Nokia gateway (See above for details)

Step 2 – Select Network from the menu on the left of the screen.

Step 3Within the new screen, you will now have the option to select, please select the radio you wish to modify.

  • Wireless (2.4Ghz)
  • Wireless (5Ghz)

Step 4From WPA version select the appropriate option from the drop-down menu

  • WPA2 – this will enable a higher level of security
  • WPA/WPA2 – this is the standard setting

 


How to change your WIFI password

To change your password (WPA key) you must log into the Nokia gateway. WPA key can be changed on each of the radios 2.4Ghz/5Ghz to suit your needs.

Step 1 – Login to the Nokia gateway (See above for details)

Step 2 – Select Network from the menu on the left of the screen.

Step 3Within the new screen, you will now have the option to select, please select the radio you wish to modify.

  • Wireless (2.4Ghz)
  • Wireless (5Ghz)

Step 4From WPA version select the appropriate option from the drop-down menu

  • WPA2 – this will enable a higher level of security
  • WPA/WPA2 – this is the standard setting


Enable WPS button

To enable WPS (WIFI-protected setup) on your router, please follow the below steps.

Step 1 – Login to the Nokia gateway (See above for details)

Step 2 – Select Network from the menu on the left of the screen.

Step 3Within the new screen, you will now have the option to select, please select the radio you wish to modify.

  • Wireless (2.4Ghz)
  • Wireless (5Ghz)

Step 4 – Navigate to Enable WPS on the menu and in the dropdown ensure Enable has been selected. WPS mode should be set to PBC (Push button control).


Ethernet port status, connected speed and duplex

To review your ethernet port status, connected speed, duplex and other useful statistics, please follow the below steps.

Step 1 – Login to the Nokia gateway (See above for details)

Step 2Navigate to LAN Status on the left-hand menu.

Step 3Scroll down to the bottom of the screen to show each of the ports.


How can I reset the router to default settings if I forgotten my password?

To perform a factory reset, insert a pin into the reset button and hold for 15-20 seconds until all the lights go out and the router begins to reboot. The reset button found at the bottom of your router near the power button. 


Can I put the router into bridge mode?

No, we do not support putting the Nokia router into bridge mode. To use your own router, you will need to upgrade your package to include a static IP add-on. This is £6 per month for residential customers and £5* per month for business customers.

Why is my NAT type set to Moderate/Strict?

This is due to our internal network configuration which uses CGNAT (carrier grade network address translation). If you need to control this, you can order a static IP add-on.
