The Best of Brampton: A Local’s Guide to One of Cumbria’s Hidden Gems

2 weeks ago 1 min read

When Fibrus Broadband ambassador Robbie Dee set off to explore Brampton, he expected a charming market town, a few local recommendations and maybe a decent cup of coffee.

What he didn’t expect was just how many recommendations he would be adding to his list!  From independent shops and cosy cafés to scenic walks and friendly faces, here’s what made Brampton stand out.

Coffee, Community and Hidden Gems

Robbie’s first stop was Off the Wall cafe, where he met Emma, who described Brampton as a town full of hidden gems and “nooks and crannies” waiting to be discovered. Emma’s advice was simple: take your time and have a wander. You never know what you’ll find.

One thing quickly became clear throughout the day – Brampton is packed with friendly people who are passionate about their town and keen to support local businesses.

Independent Shopping Done Right

Next up was La Bel, where owner Charlotte spoke about Brampton’s welcoming community spirit and thriving independent business scene.

She even convinced Robbie to try on one of the shop’s fascinators. Let’s just say he wears it surprisingly well!

A Happy Fibrus Broadband Customer

One of the highlights of the day was meeting a happy Fibrus Broadband customer.

When asked how she was finding the service, her answer was simple:

I love it.

Sandwiches, Scenery and a Stroll Around Talkin Tarn

After a delicious sandwich from Charlie’s Bistro, Robbie took the advice of waitress Anoushka and headed to Talkin Tarn Country Park.

Surrounded by woodland, wildlife and stunning views, it’s easy to see why it’s such a favourite with locals and visitors alike. Families love spending time here, with plenty of opportunities for walking, boating and enjoying the great outdoors.

A Pint Well Earned

After a busy day exploring, Robbie did what any sensible person would do and stopped for a pint.

Several locals recommended The Howard Arms as the place to go for a great beer and friendly atmosphere, and we’re pleased to report it lived up to expectations.

Research is important, after all!

More Local Favourites

Of course, Robbie only scratched the surface of what there is to discover in Brampton. The local community also recommended:

  • Quarry Beck Woods
  • The Wednesday Market and Farmers’ Market

Why We Love Brampton

What stood out most during Robbie’s visit wasn’t just the cafés, shops or beautiful scenery.

It was the people.

Every recommendation came from someone genuinely proud of their town and eager to share their favourite spots.
